Dr. Paz H. Diaz served the UP Open University as Dean of the Faculty of Management and Development Studies from 2003 to 2007, before she retired from the UP System, which she served for over 40 years.

She finished her Doctorate in Communication from the College of Mass Communication of the University of the Philippines in 2000, with an Award of Distinction for her dissertation, Text and Discourse: Narrative Structures in Everyday Stories, an analysis of the stories of seven women entrepreneurs in the informal sector. Her Master of Arts in Communication Research was conferred also by the College of Mass Communication of the University of the Philippines in 1993, where she received the Best Thesis Award for her thesis, Mythologizing Women in Romansa Komiks. She finished her Bachelor of Literature in Journalism at the University of Santo Tomas in 1962.

Dr. Diaz served the UP Institute for Small Scale Industries as Training Specialist from 1969 to 1998, the UP College of Mass Communication as Associate Professor from 1998-2003, and the UP Open University from 2003 to 2007.

She has traveled as consultant for over 40 years designing training programs and conducting sessions on communication, entrepreneurship, and community development in local communities as well as in developing countries in Asia and Africa. She was trained as training specialist in the Irish Management Institute in Dublin in 1978. Other countries she has worked in are Bangladesh, Botswana, Fiji, the Gambia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Kenya, Lesotho, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tonga, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. She has attended seminars and other educational conferences in Japan, Italy, Ireland, Mexico, the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Germany, Australia, and the U.S.A.

Presently, she is Vice-President for Academics and Acting Dean of the Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication (AIJC) Graduate School. She is a Trustee and the Board Secretary of the Small Enterprises Research and Development Foundation (SERDEF); and is a Life Member of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP). She is also a Founding Trustee of the Philippine Educational Measurement and Evaluation Association, Inc. (PEMEA) when it was founded in 2010.
